Sex is everywhere and in almost every aspect of human nature. To state the obvious, we are a product of sex. It is our life force and how we use these powerful energy will affect our whole lives. However, in an examination of sex in the modern world, we see that the famous Sexual Revolution that started in the sixties has now stalled.
That may not seem obvious. After all, we are surrounded by images of sex, in TV, pornography and advertising. Sometimes it seems as though we are drowning in sexual imagery. However when looking closer, we find that people are not actually having much sex. Modern life surrounds us with images of "sexy" but it somehow does not make us more "sexual".
However, living in sexy but not sexual world is rather like having a diet of Junk Food. Superficially it is fulfilling but not on the deeper level. Lack of sex in people's lives leads to what is known as sexual substitution. We engage in many behaviours such as compulsive shopping or exercise in order to fill the gap left by sex.
