A CALL TO FREE THINKING MUSLIMS AND EX-MUSLIMS

World Art Erotica is a resource of links and information for those who are working for a more tolerant and sensual version of Islam than that which is espoused today.

For liberal moderate Muslims, Ex-Muslims and those who are interested in promoting more tolerance and social freedoms in the Islamic world we would like to offer this page as a resource. Muslim moderates can no longer be silent. For too long they have said nothing whilst fanatics have hijacked the religion.

Speaking personally, as a former Muslim I am proud to be part of this effort. I know that I can stand in front of Allah (God) and be judged because my heart and conscience are clean. I think Allah pays much more attention important aspects of a person's morals and behaviour than their sexuality.

I do not think it is wrong to be a "Gay Muslim". That is for Allah to judge. Neither is it wrong to be a sexually liberated Muslim woman who desires sex with more than one man. And only Allah can decide whether it is wrong to leave the religion. No religion should use the death penalty to keep it's members as is the case with Saudi Arabia and Iran amongst others. Only the Mafia retains it's members in this way.

Practicing Muslims should have the right to disagree with Islamic fundamentalists. Ex-Muslims have a right to leave Islam without being executed or going to jail.

Liberal Liberated and Sensual Muslims!

We would like to invite all Practicing Muslims who are liberally oriented, Ex-Muslims, Feminist Muslims, Gay Muslims and other related entities to contribute stories, articles and information about sexuality and feminism in the Muslim world. Also information on contact ads, clubs and other organizations that promote a more liberal tolerant Islam.

We will give complete confidentiality to all submissions unless you wish otherwise.

Here are some examples of brave Muslims challenging "traditional" interpretations of Islam:

  • Salaam: A resource for Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Muslims. Creates and fosters a supportive and understanding environment for lesbian, gay and bisexual Muslims to socialize, and to offer each other support in reconciling and coming to terms with their spirituality/culture/heritage and their sexual orientation. Languages: English, Arabic, Persian, Swahili, Somali, French, Urdu, Kutchi, Punjabi & Italian.
  • In the Name of Allah: the world's first documentary to explore the complex intersections of Islam with Gender and Sexuality.
  • Al-Fatiha:an international support group for gay, lesbian, bixexual and transgendered Muslim.
  • Secular Islam: Institute for the Secularization of Islamic Society
  • Radical Islam: Website devoted to exposing practices and idealogy of Islamic Fundamentalists
  • Irshad Manji: A feminist Muslim lesbian writer? She is an amazing woman who has the bravery to take on Islamic fundamentalists.

Believe it or not there are actually some Muslims in the world who support what we are trying to do! There ARE Muslim men and women who are enjoying their sensuality without the usual patriarchal constraints, shame and guilt of traditional Islamic society. Some Muslims do not like what we have to say but support our right to say it. We agree, "Let Allah be the judge not man".

Please note that all names have been changed to protect the authors' confidentiality. Many would be jailed or even executed by their "Muslim" brothers if there identities were to be made public.

Was just browsing the net and came across your web site. You are the pioneers of change. I bow down and salute you. I can understand the kinds of ordeals that you go through. I am a male but because am in love with a inteligent, radiant woman so can understand the meaning of the existence of woman. it is not for us that the world was created. it was for you. You are not created for adam. That story has caused enough pain to you. You are the mothers. the mothers of existence. It is because of your qualities that the world is still existent. Otherwise these foolish men would have destroyed it ages ago. Your husbands are made to nurture you because you stand as the source of life. It is no mere co incidence that you have been chosen to bring life to this world. your qualities are much more creational than ours. I salute you brave women. Don't accept their bullshit. they have been subduing you in the name of god for centuries. Enough is enough. Good luck. Sorry got a bit carried away. Can't help it. Being a male, even though not directly but indirectly feel responsible for the religiousness of my so called male counterparts. thats probably why there was never a female prophet because hey you are not supposed to be equal to us. throw away their such bullshit. you are the icons of creation. The masterpieces of that divine being. I will surely post something as soon as I find it. Take care. My deep respect for your work.

I recently started to wonder if there was a site concerning Muslim sexuality, particularly pertaining to Muslim women and sex, and with this in mind, I one day decided to search the Net. I keyed in the string 'Muslim erotica' just on a hunch, and I came up with your site. And what I saw next simply shocked me. Your site is amazing, to say the least, particularly the photos of Muslim women in erotic poses. I truly support your endeavour, and wish you luck and success in it. I too am a Muslim woman, but I believe in freedom for women, to do what they want, especially towards leading very active sex lives, with whoever they want and whenever they want. I totally support nudity, for I believe that a woman's body is the most beautiful thing in the world, and if a woman wishes to proudly flaunt it, she has every right to do so. I ask all these Muslims, if they go on a holiday, do they prevent themselves from seeing the lovely sights around? No. Then why is the case with Muslim women? Why are they kept covered? Men and women are made different to enjoy sex, then why is this prevented?

After reading your reply to my email it got me thinking yes you are right it is proper to firstly take a stand against fundamentalism before arguing with people like yourself who are trying to liberally present the problems of muslim women although i still dont totally agree with some of the ideas on your site i must admit i couldn't stop feeling aroused at the photos of that woman revealing herself in the positive feedback of your site. it must have been so brave of her to take a stand like that.

Before writing this i discussed some of the material on your site with a group of friends. some did empathise with your ideas but the general view was that there really aren't enough muslim women who are willing to go against tradition and openly engage in erotic performances / publications.

I do want to continue writing to you and want my friends to become involved as well, but before this do you think it is possible of you to email me some other photos of muslim women who have revealed themselves and bared their assets within the beuaty of their body to support your effort because apart from you i cant think of any other sources of female muslim erotica. thanks.

I just wanted to tell you that I came across your site while surfing the Net and I have to say it is great, especially the part on Muslim erotica. I am 28, living alone with my 29-year-old husband in Pakistan, and like you too, we both hail from conservative Muslim households. Yet, we believe firmly believe in free sex and what we fail to understand is why people believe it to be so dirty. Sex is great fun and it gives a lot of pleasure, and there's nothing wrong about it. My husband and I share the same beliefs. In fact, I have sex with other men with my husband's full knowledge, and he doesn't mind a thing. He wants me to enjoy my sex life to the hilt, and we also often have group sex with other men. This hasn't however changed our love for each other and neither will it ever do so. We still love each other like mad, but my husband has given me absolute freedom to enjoy my sex life as I want.

I read the negative comment section. It is typical for a Imam, Shaykh, Mullah or Muslim Preaches to say that women in Islam enjoy full right and lives in harmony and give us examples of how women in other cultures or religions are treated inhumanly. While women in his household have no rights in choosing when and whom to get married. There is this cerfew on women and it start as soon as school ends. While male can stay out come late. Typically male are more prone to sexual activity than female but mullahs somehow would find an excuse put the blame on women and would suggest the parents to be extra cautious with their daughters. Anyway just wanted to experess myself.
